A woman attending a Britney Spears concert in Dublin has died after falling from a fairground ride.

The 31-year-old is understood to have been on the ride outside the O2 arena when she was thrown to the ground last night.

Gardai said the incident happened at around 11.20pm.

It is believed the woman died instantly and her body was removed from the scene. She had been at the concert earlier in the evening.

The area outside the venue has been sealed off ahead of a forensic examination by Garda technical experts.

Officers at Store Street have launched an inquiry. The Health and Safety Authority has also been asked to investigate the death.

It is understood there were a number of fairground rides outside O2 for the event.

The Mirror reported yesterday that Britney, who today was nominated for the Worldwide Act for this year’s MTV EMA awards, is failing to sell tickets to one of her UK gigs despite slashing the price.

The singer’s raunchy Femme Fatale tour hits Birmingham on October 30 but staff at the 16,000-capacity LG Arena fear empty seats.

A ticket seller said: “It’s probably about half-full. There’s good availability.”

Around 500 standing tickets are unsold and 11 seat blocks have space even after a cover-price offer of £30 down from £55 on discount site Groupon and a buy 10 get two free deal.

The 29-year-old’s “spectacular” show, one of eight UK dates, was expected to sell out. Rolling Stone said it was “her flashiest yet”.

After meltdown and rehab, the troubled singer hopes the tour will cement her return to pop’s A-list.

Promoter Live Nation said: “Offering a deal on Groupon is not a reflection of the quality or status or sales of a show.”

Britney has also tweeted the following:

I was saddened to hear of the tragic accident in Dublin. My heart goes out to the family. -Britney

On Britney Spears’ latest release, B in the Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2, which dropped Tuesday (October 11), a group of dance music’s biggest names have put their stamp on some of the singer’s most-popular tunes from the past few years.

Chopped, screwed and broken down, the songs reach new extremes. “It’s cool that big mainstream pop artists let their music be remixed by people in the underground, like me,” Kaskade, who contributed his version of “Gimme More,” told MTV News. “It shines a new light on the EDM scene and how far it can reach. I give Britney props for taking chances and letting dance music be heard by the masses.”

Kaskade is one of many EDM artists who appear on the album. He and other DJs who contributed say it’s been a gratifying experience.

“She’s been a pop icon for so long. I appreciate a lot of the values she brings to music,” Cobra Starship’s Alex Suarez explained. “She sings really well. I appreciate her talents. I definitely respect what she does and why she’s successful.

“I’m impressed people stick by her, and when I got the opportunity, I was like, ‘Wow.’ Britney Spears is huge. She’s a huge name worldwide.’ ”

Suarez remixed “Till the World Ends” and said he didn’t want to go too far off course for his take on the Femme Fatale single. “I thought the original was really good to begin with,” he explained. “I thought I wanted to make this as special as I can. I tried to stick true to the structure of the song.

“Sometimes, you get remixes and they chop it up and mix it around, which is cool. The thing with a Britney Spears remix is people like to sing along.”

Kaskade explained that he was “excited at the chance to get to mess with” “Gimme More,” and he wanted to make sure his remix worked with his musical style. “I wanted to make sure that it would be something that would eventually fit into my live set,” he said. “That is the true test for me: Taking a huge pop vocal and making it work with my music can be a little tricky, but I find the challenge fun. I really dig what Brit does, and this song is awesome, so I was really excited.”

The album is a blend of old and new remixes: EDM superstar Tiësto, who banked his “Piece of Me” remix ages before, said it’s cool to be included. “That already happened like four or five years ago. That remix is pretty old, but it’s funny they put it on the album ’cause it’s a timeless remix,” Tiësto told MTV News. “I was always proud of that remix, because the opinions about Britney are different, but what I did with that remix is pretty special. The melody, the atmosphere is totally different than the original. For me, it’s always been a special remix. I’m glad they added that on the album.”

The track list also includes “Radar” (Tonal Club Remix), “Womanizer” (Benny Benassi Extended), “Circus” (Linus Loves Remix), “If U Seek Amy” (U-Tern Remix), “3″ (Manhattan Clique Club Remix), “I Wanna Go” (Gareth Emery Remix) and “Criminal” (Radio Mix).

Yes, he was looking at jewelry – just not of the engagement variety.

Online reports that Britney Spears’s boyfriend and former agent, Jason Trawick, is planning to propose are false, a rep for the singer tells PEOPLE.

Trawick, 39, was spotted meeting with high-end jeweler Pascal Mouaward in Los Angeles Monday afternoon, sparking rumors that they were discussing diamonds for the pop star.

“There is no truth to that report with regards to engagement rings,” a rep for Spears said in a statement. “However, Jason was there to discuss other matters with Pascal, but nothing relating to him personally.”

Spears, 29, recently wrapped up the North American leg of her Femme Fatale tour. She and Trawick have been dating since 2009.

Cheryl Cole is apparently hoping to collaborate with Britney Spears.

After rubbing shoulders with Cameron Diaz on the set of their new movie, What To Expect When You’re Not Expecting, it seems Chezza has set her sights on another Hollywood A-Lister in the shape of Miss. Spears.

According to Now magazine, the Girls Aloud beauty is hoping to hit the studio with Britney after asking producer JR Rotem – who both Cheryl and Spears have worked with – for the pop princess’ number.

Speaking of a possible Chezza and Brit hook-up, a pal of the Fight For This Love singer told the mag: “She’d love to do a duet with Britney for her next album.”

The reports come after Cole’s bodyguard Craig Balkam claimed that Cheryl wanted to make friends with Britney, telling The Mirror: “She used to talk about Britney Spears. She kept saying that she wanted to help Britney.”

He added: “She thought she could become like a big sister to her and make her normal again after all her crazy behaviour.”

Cheryl has also been linked to collaborations with Rihanna, Usher and Christina Aguilera – after she was spotted meeting with both Xtina and the OMG hitmaker in LA.

Today, we all know Britney Spears as one of the biggest pop stars of our time, but thirteen years ago, she was a sixteen-year-old unknown about to release her first single. “…Baby One More Time” would go on to be a international hit for Spears, with her debut album of the same name going on to sell over twenty-six million copies worldwide.

In a rare interview with the pop princess, now twenty-nine, Glamour Magazine UK asked her what advice she would give her sixteen-year-old self. “To have fun,” Spears said. “I was having fun then, but in the beginning I think I was fearful. So I’d just say, try to embrace moments more, have a good time with life, and don’t take it so seriously.”

The unsinkable performer has certainly made this her year. Spears kicked off 2011 with her hit single “Hold It Against Me”, which went straight to number one after debuting in January. The spring brought more success for the Grammy winner when her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, also debuted in the top spot on the Billboard charts. This summer, fans have been treated to seeing Spears live during her well received Femme Fatale Tour, which she will take overseas this fall. Just last week, she appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards where she was honored with not only the statue for Best Pop Video, but also the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

So what’s next for the music superstar? More of the same. When asked what the key to her longevity is, Spears said, “It’s because I love what I do and I don’t take myself so seriously. I’m on this journey and I’ve had so much fun so far. I genuinely have a blast and I really don’t listen to the critics.”

Listen for a remixed version of Spears’ latest single, “Criminal”, to be released on the radio soon, with a music video to follow. The always-hardworking performer already has the clip planned out, telling MTV, “It’s really different and it’s nothing I’ve heard before, so I really wanted to deliver this song. I was thinking of a really cool concept for the video just to make it interesting. You’ll have to see.”

Being a Britney fan myself, I couldn’t be more thrilled at the choice. She’s right about it being different – not only has she never recorded anything like it, but you’d be hard pressed to find something similar from any pop artist out there today.

Uh-oh. It sounds like Justin Timberlake nearly gave his mother, Lynn, a heart attack when he was younger! The singer/actor/MySpace creative director recently shared his most awkward sexual encounter in the September issue of Elle, and it sounds like every teenage boy’s (and their mom’s) worst nightmare.

“I was caught … My mom wasn’t cool about it. I was too young to be in bed with a girl,” Timberlake told Elle. Could the girl JT is referring to possibly be Britney Spears? The former ‘N Sync frontman dated the ‘Baby One More Time’ cutie from 1999 to 2002 — both were around about 18-years-old when they officially started dating.

Even though 18 seems a bit old considering Timberlake’s comment, the duo met on the set of ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’ when they were just 12-years-old. However, it is a well known fact that Britney Spears declared she was a virgin during most of their relationship. On the other hand, Timberlake has also hinted that the two were intimate in the past.

Another pop singer has also been speculated as the lady who was blushing with embarrassment after getting caught in bed with Timberlake. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas dated Timberlake prior to his involvement with Britney Spears. Even though she may be the “girl,” we doubt it, since Fergie has since talked about how their age gap was embarrassing enough. She said, “He was 16 and I was 23.”

We guess we will never really know who the girl in question is, but there is a moral to this story. Boys, if you are going to get busy, make sure you are safe and remember to lock your door!

Britney Spears mega-fan Chris Crocker, who once stood behind the pop star when she was the subject of media backlash, is now standing up for his right to free speech. Even Crocker can admit that Brit’s live performances as of late aren’t up to par; and in this video, he reaches out to her and says that she should walk away from the stage completely.
