Last week’s episode of “Glee” found Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) shouting, “It’s a Britney Spears sex riot!” as she attempted to put a stop to the glee club’s saucy rendition of “Toxic.”

But she’s not the only one who had an issue with the Spears takeover at William McKinley High School. The hit Fox show has come under fire as the Parents Television Council has deemed the “Britney/Brittany” episode the “Worst TV Show of the Week” due to the broadcast’s “explicit sexual content.”

A message posted on the organization’s website decries the episode’s “skimpy outfits” and “sultry grinds” during “I’m a Slave 4 U.” And even though “Glee” castmembers show very little skin in the re-creation for the 2001 Madonna duet “Me Against the Music,” the PTC said the interpretation included “plenty of girl-girl bumping and grinding.”

According to the group, the tribute to the always-controversial Spears wasn’t appropriate because the singer is far from a suitable role model.

“Glee earned its highest ratings ever with this Britney Spears tribute, drawing 13.3 million viewers,” the message continued. “A scary thought considering that the mostly young teen/tween audience basically witnessed an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque. But perhaps most troubling is the deification of a troubled pop star into a symbol of empowerment and self-esteem. Considering her stints in rehab, her very public breakdowns, and her questionable parenting skills, there is absolutely no way Spears should be considered a role model. The producers of the show can spare us the old song-and-dance about fallen celebs turning their lives around. What’s next? Portraying Ike Turner as a reformed feminist?”

Spears knows controversy and criticism far too well. Since the beginning of her career, she’s always raised eyebrows with everything from her sex-kitten public image to her sometimes-questionable parental judgment. While the pop star has played it relatively safe since her comeback, the singer did make headlines last year for her suggestive single “If U Seek Amy,” the third offering from her album Circus.

My Opinion: I think I’ve seen more racy stuff on Family Guy then I did on Britney’s Glee episode so those at the Parents Television Council can go take their pathetic lives and just shut their pie hole. There was nothing wrong with the episode and it for surely didn’t offer: an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque. Get real!

width= From schoolgirl to toxic temptress, Britney Spears has played many characters throughout the years. But the singer took a very different approach for her photo spread in the upcoming issue of the U.K.’s Pop magazine by channeling her inner manga character. In the issue, the pop princess dished about the possibilities of a Lady Gaga collaboration and working with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for the anime-inspired cover.

Despite Gaga overthrowing Spears as the most-followed celebrity on Twitter, the singer had no hard feelings toward pop’s newest sensation. “I’m a big fan of hers,” she said when asked about working with Gaga. “Anything’s possible!”

A collaboration between the pop stars doesn’t seem out of the question, as Gaga’s mega-hit “Telephone” duet with Beyoncé was originally offered to Spears.

Donning a white wedding dress and a veil with matching gloves, Spears innocently poses in a field of flowers on the cover. In another photo, the singer trades the dress for a leg-baring getup accessorized with a red backpack.

Spears’ manga-style shoot was shot by Todd Cole with art direction from Takashi Murakami, who is often referred to as the “Andy Warhol of Japan.” While the spread strays from the singer’s typical styling, the pop star enjoyed working with the artist. “I loved working with Takashi,” she said. “I especially liked how he took high-end fashion and incorporated it with Japanese manga.”

The singer’s tour to Japan was what originally piqued her interest in Japanese culture. “We looked at a lot of characters and artwork before we shot, so I could get a feel for what he was looking for,” she explained. “I was in Japan on my past promo tour, and I loved it.”

Editor in Chief Dasha Zhukova spoke to Style.com about the singer’s Japanese treatment: “She’s feminine, sassy, strong-willed, determined: all the things a great Pop icon should be. Couple that with some Japanese swimsuits and a Rodarte wedding gown, and I think she is pretty much Pop personified!”

Spears couldn’t wait to share her excitement for her photo shoot with fans. The pop star took to Twitter, saying, “I just saw the photos for the first time and they are beautiful. Comes out Sept. 1st. Thanks @TakashiPom — Britney.”

Aside from gracing the cover of Pop magazine, the singer has already filmed a cameo for her “Glee” tribute episode and is working on completing the follow-up to 2008′s Circus.

American pop star Britney Spears stepped in Madonna’s shoes while filming her upcoming guest appearance in hit TV series ‘Glee’.

She played the part of Madonna in a recreation of the pair’s ‘Me Against the Music’ video while Heather Morris, who plays Glee member Brittany, took Britney’s part, reports the Daily Star.

The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker will be the centre of attention on the hit musical show when it returns for a second season, with a full episode dedicated to her music.

She began shooting for her cameo role this week.

“Telephone” producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins has confirmed that a widely circulated leak is, indeed, Britney Spears’ rough demo of what would later become Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s hit single. “I really don’t know who leaked the version,” Jerkins said in a live online video chat noted by MTV News. “It was an early demo stage of the version. It wasn’t even a mixed version. I would never leak something without Britney’s approval, without [her manager] Larry Rudolph, without Jive Records. That’s just not how I get down.”

The alleged “Telephone” demo hit the Web this weekend, occasioning much hubbub and speculation about its authenticity. Was that really Britney’s voice singing the words we associate with Gaga and Beyoncé? The producer’s comments answer that question pretty definitively. Jerkins also included a teasing mention of Spears’ future plans, promising to “put 200 percent of my focus into writing a new smash for Britney’s new album.” Spears’ label, Jive Records, has not responded to EW’s repeated requests for comment on this story.

The FOX TV series Glee had such success with their “The Power of Madonna” episode and with the sales of the music that accompanied the monumental show, that Glee creator Ryan Murphy might be considering former Disney star and worldwide pop sensation Britney Spears for another one of their tribute episodes, which we have to say would be amazing. According to the show there are several musicians that could be considered for the tribute, but online sources like Entertainment Weekly puts Miss Britney among the top part of the list meaning we may actually see her music showcased in a future episode.

Earlier in the month Britney Spears manager asked fans via twitter if they would be interested in having a complete episode of Glee devoted to Britney that got a massive response so much so that Ryan Murphy had this to say about Brit Brit on his show “I’m interested in the Britney Spears idea,” he says. “I’ve always loved her. I’m entertaining it. I think young kids would like that.”

We will just have to see if the former Mouseketeer’s catalog fits in with the story line, but it all comes down to what works for the show in the long run and our guess with the publicity that just considering Britney Spears for a tribute on the show has gotten, we will probably see it happen. Just our guess!

Britney Spears could be set to follow her successful Circus tour with a role in a new film, according to reports. The 27-year-old star is still touring the world with her Circus tour, and it is claimed a script for a film called The Yellow Star of Sophia and Eton has been handed to Britney to look at.

If she accepts the role, Britney will reportedly play the main role of Sophia LaMont, who creates a time machine and travels back to World War II where she meets a Jewish man called Eton at a concentration camp.

They then fall in love and travel back to the present day with the intention of getting married but they are both killed by Nazis. Britney appeared in the 2002 film Crossroads, but the film was panned by critics.
